'21 BoxingEdu Scholarship

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

With continued focus on their mission to support and empower future generations of boxers, Just Boxing Foundation has announced the BoxingEdu Scholarship. The Los Angeles based charitable organization created BoxingEdu to aid boxers pursuing higher education at public colleges and universities within LA County.

"Los Angeles is our home, and our first priority is to this community." said Foundation president, Sean FitzGerald. "We're still a relatively new organization, and are working to build trust and good faith with the boxing community here. If we can do that, I'm confident we can grow and expand programs like this to other areas beyond Southern California."

This marks the Foundation's fourth major initiative since being founded in November, 2019. All four concentrated in the greater Los Angeles area. Just Boxing Foundation first awarded grants to Olympic Trials qualifiers from LA and neighboring Orange County. In 2020, as a growing pandemic brought an unexpected halt to all boxing, the Foundation offered grants to professional boxers who had bouts cancelled within the county. The Foundation then helped outfit the California Emergency Medical Service Authority (CAL MAT) with boxing and fitness equipment at their Southern California facility.

And now, Just Boxing Foundation's inaugural scholarship effort is officially underway. Applications are being accepted through August 30th, 2021 (detailed application information here). Each BoxingEdu Scholarship recipient will receive $1,200.00 to cover educational and/or boxing related expenses.
