On Thanksgiving morning in Los Angeles, just eight days before the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, Sean FitzGerald (President, Just Boxing Foundation) took to Instagram to announce the first of a series of projects focused on empowering the next generation of boxers in Los Angeles. Specifically, Just Boxing Foundation pledged contributions to Olympic Trials participants who reside and train in LA. A hotbed for boxing talent, Los Angeles County is home to eight qualifying men and women, with another two qualifiers hailing from nearby Orange County.
"Just Boxing Foundation is a growing organization," Sean explains in the post, "so as much as we would love to we're not yet in a position to contribute to all 104 boxers participating in the trials. However, we are able to provide a modest contribution to these ten [from Los Angeles and Orange County]"
In the weeks leading up to the trials, Just Boxing Foundation partnered with Sweet Science Gym in Hawthorne, California to privately raise $2,300.00 (USD) to assist qualifiers with travel and expenses related to the Olympic Team Trials in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This project kicks off a new initiative within the foundation referred to as #BoxingLA, a program dedicated to providing assistance to boxers who reside and train in Los Angeles.
